Services

We specialize in rock chip repair for laminated auto glass. This process prevents further damage, ensuring safety. While repairs will be visible up close, they restore functionality and prevent spreading.

In general, the damage should be no larger than a 1 inch (the size of a quarter) and have cracks (legs) extending no farther than 1 inch. Damage larger than a quarter makes a reliable repair more difficult. The quicker you get the damage repaired, the more successful the repair will be and you are less likely to have the windshield replaced. Most damage only requires 1 resin injection, but more complex damage may need one or two "pits" drilled to stop the damage from spreading.

Frequent Questions/Concerns

Question: Will the repair make my "chip" invisible and look as good as new?

Answer: Nope, there will always be a blemish, we work very hard to make the blemish as invisible as possible. We use high-quality resin and a powerful bridge (injector/vacuum). The purpose of the repair is to stop the spread and restore the integrity of the windshield, saving you from purchasing a new windshield. The type and size of break also play a large factor in the visibility of the repair. For example, repairs on "bullseye", "angel wings" or "half-moon" breaks tend to conceal relatively easy, while "star", "combo" or the dreaded "starburst" breaks tend to show the blemish a bit more. If you know where to look, you will see it.

Question: Does it always work?

Answer: Unfortunately, no. The impact damage (chip) has left the windshield compromised and in a very fragile state. Sadly, sometimes when we are attempting a repair, the "chip" or "legs" will fracture. We make every effort to preserve your windshield, and we treat your vehicle as if it is our own. This is a very rare occurrence, but it does and has happened.

Comment: Your prices seem a little high. I can go purchase a kit to do it myself for about half the price.

Answer: Yes, do it yourself solutions are available in retail stores and online for $20-$30. To be honest, if you know what you are doing, they can work decently. Be warned, if you don't know what you are doing, they can be very frustrating. We have specialized tools and training, and we come directly to you. If you do attempt the repair yourself and then you have to make the call of shame to us, that's ok, no judgement here. Just let us know that you have attempted the repair, it will make it easier for us to find a suitable injection point.

Comment: Some people drill the chips, others don't, why?

Answer: When chip repair was in its infancy, the bridges (injectors) were not as powerful as now and all repairs had to be drilled. We use (what we have found to be) the highest quality repair bridge on the market. With an injector and vacuum this powerful, we generally do not drill the repair, we simply remove loose glass debris, inject, and double cure. There are occasions where the damage is so tight that we will drill out the damage to aid in the flow of resin.

Question: How long do I have to wait after the repair to wash my vehicle?

Answer: You can lightly hand wash the same day but please wait 24 hours before you go to a high-pressure car wash. We double cure the resin on site but it may take up to 24 hours for it to fully cure.
